‘Montauk Monster’ Has Hamptons in a Tizzy

What’s brownish-purple, goes to the beach and stinks of rotting flesh?

New York’s celebrity-obsessed Hamptons summer season got even sillier this week when a strange-looking, very dead creature washed up on a beach in Montauk at the far eastern end of New York’s Long Island.

On Tuesday afternoon, a photo was posted on Gawker, the Big Apple’s reigning gossip blog, which treated the Montauk monster with characteristic respect: “Good Luck With Your Hell Demons.”

The animal looks like a bloated, hairless dog, except that it’s got an eagle-like beak, a prominent brow ridge and a curiously elongated front paw.

Speculation immediately arose that it might be a hitherto unknown marine mammal, a sea turtle without its shell, an artful Photoshop creation or — cue the ” X-Files” theme — an escaped experiment from the government animal-disease research facility on Plum Island, just offshore from Montauk.

The animal’s resting on sand in the photo, with no other indication of location or scale except for what appears to be a large fly on its back.

Gawker itself thought it had broken the case late on Tuesday, when it noted that the woman who’d e-mailed in the photo………..For full story and related links click [ HERE ]

Two in a Million: Twins Born – One Black, One White

FOXNEWS.COM HOME > HEALTH > INCREDIBLE HEALTH

Thursday, July 17, 2008

Twins with different skin colors — one black and the other white — have been born in Berlin, Germany.

Doctors say it is an extremely rare occurrence, but it is possible if genes combine in a certain way.

The twin boys, named Ryan and Leo, are the offspring of a mixed-race couple.

The mother, Florence, hails from Ghana in western Africa, and dad, Stephan, is from Potsdam in Germany.

“Ryan came first, and everything was as usual,” said the hospital’s doctor, Birgit Weber. “But when Leo was born, I couldn’t believe my eyes.”

“Both kids have definitely the same father,” the doctor added.

FoxNews19 – April 1, 2008

(“This was an article I came across 2 days ago and one I couldn’t believe.  I thought I had heard of everything but this one has to be the most ridiculous but true story I’ve ever heard…….flagranny2”)

Art Price / Courtesy Bellevue Police(BELLEVUE, OH) — Police say a man in Bellevue, Ohio was caught on tape having sex with a picnic table.Bellevue Police Captain Matt Johnson says Art Price, Jr., 40, was seen on four occasions between the hours of 10:30 a.m. and noon having sex with his picnic table.
What makes this a felony, Johnson says, is that it took place in close proximity to a school, which made it likely that children could have seen Price.  The neighbor — who wishes to remain anonymous — saw Price walk out onto his deck, stand a round metal table on its side and……  [full story and update …. continue

Hunter’s Photos Ignite New Debate Over Bigfoot’s Existence

Wednesday, October 31, 2007

Could this really be Bigfoot?  The link to the additional pictures really present questions of what this is a picture of.  Very interesting to say the least.

RIDGWAY, Pa. —  A hunter out to photograph deer last month has reignited the Sasquatch debate with a photograph of a small furry animal walking on all fours.

Rick Jacobs said he took this photograph with a camera using an automatic trigger inthe Allegheny National Forest, about 115 miles north of Pittsburgh, hoping to capture deer. But his image has only managed to spark further debate about the existence of bigfoot.

“We couldn’t figure out what they were,” Jacobs said of the images captured on Sept. 16. “I’ve been hunting for years and I’ve never seen anything like this.”

He contacted the Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization, which pursues reports of a legendary two-legged creature that some people believe lives in parts of the U.S. and Canada.

“It appears to be a primate-like animal. In my opinion, it appears to be a juvenile Sasquatch,” said Paul Majeta of the bigfoot group.

However, the Pennsylvania Game Commission has a more conventional opinion. Agency spokesman Jerry Feaser said conservation officers routinely trap bears to be tagged and often see animals that look like the photos.

“There is no question it is a bear with a severe case of mange,” Feaser told The Bradford Era.

Dog Shoots Owner in the Back in Memphis, Tennessee – was it something his owner said?

Wednesday, August 01, 2007

If this hadn’t been an accident and the dog’s owner in critical condition, with  Michael Vick’s case regarding “dog fighting” this could have been a story about a dog taking a stand and having a say just what he thinks about the case.

Unfortunately it was an accident and his own is in critical condition.  Now the owner’s finace is afraid for the dog once his owner gets out of the hospital.   A Memphis, Tenn., man is in critical condition Wednesday after his dog shot him in the back.

Police say King George, a 150-pound Great Dane, accidentally knocked a .22-caliber pistol off his owner’s end table around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday. The gun went off, hitting his 21-year-old owner in the back, MyFOXMemphis.com reports.

Click here to watch the MyFOXMemphis.com report.

“I knew he was smart, I didn’t think he was that smart,” the victim’s fiancee, Miesha Lucas told MyFOXMemphis.com. “He was always protective. I didn’t think he would be like that.”

Police refused to name the victim as they do not plan to file charges in the shooting, which they’ve ruled as accidental.

Lucas told MyFOXMemphis.com that she fears what her fiance will do to the pet once he gets out of the hospital.

The shooting occurred in the Raleigh section of Memphis.

Man With Headache Finds Bullet in Head

Thursday, June 28, 2007
PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla Fox News

Honey my head is killing me, either you hit me with your elbow or I think I’m having an aneurisum.

I wonder if this is what Michael Moylan 45, said to his wife April when he woke up at 4:30a.m. with a terrible headache?

She drives him to the hospital

Doctors discover a bullet in his head lodged behind his right ear

Authorities obtained a search warrant for the couple’s home which led to the arrest of Moylan’s wife April, 39, who is being charged with attempted murder.

Evidence indicated Moylan had been shot at close range by someone (hmm, and that would be?)

His wife eventually tells authorities she “accidently” shot her husband. (accidently, close range behind right ear sure sounds like an accident to me…. lol)

How many people can be sleeping, get shot in the head or anywhere and not know it.  This blows (no pun intended) me away.

Obviously there is more to this than meets the eye which I’m sure will be uncovered as they investigate further.

Moylan did not undergo surgery, but was transferred to a trauma facility and his current condition is not known.

Man Oozes Green Blood Before Operation

Monday, June 11, 2007
FoxNews

Canadian surgeons received the shock of their careers while trying to insert an arterial line into a man who was suffering from compartment syndrome and needed an urgent procedure to save his legs from permanent damage.

Surgeons were having trouble inserting the line, but what happened next seemed like science fiction. The man began oozing dark green blood out of the catheter, not unlike Mr. Spock might have done if he was on the operating table.

Dr. Stephan Schwarz and Dr. Alana Flexman presented their unusual case in a recent edition of The Lancet.

The 42-year-old Canadian had been brought into Vancouver’s St. Paul’s Hospital after falling asleep in a sitting position.

He was ushered into an operating room where doctors began preparation to relieve the pressure in his legs. But it wasn’t until the doctors drew the man’s blood that they realized the man was suffering from not one, but two separate medical conditons.

The doctors quickly took a sample of the man’s blood and sent it off to the lab. As the man recovered from his surgery, the lab looked for the cause of his green blood.

Cyanosis, a condition where oxygen-poor blood circulates in the body, was ruled out as the reason for the discoloration. Methemoglobin, a dangerous condition in which hemoglobin can’t carry oxygen through the body, was also ruled out.

The man was a smoker with a medical history of chronic shoulder pain and migraines. He was taking a number of medications, including sumatriptan to treat the migraines. The doctors pointed to this medication as the cause of this very rare condition.

Sulfhemoglobinaemia is a condition that forms when a sulphur atom is incorporated into the hemoglobin molecule. This can be caused by medications that contain sulfonamides, such as sumatriptan, which the man was taking in higher-than-prescribed doses.

Schwarz and Flexman reason it was this medication that led to his bizarre condition. ““It is possible that our patient’s arguably excessive intake of sumatriptan, which contains a sulfonamide group, caused his sulfhemoglobinaemia,” they wrote in the case report.

Just by stopping the medication the blood can return to the standard human color of deep red, although blood transfusions can be used in severe cases.
