Paris – (cat)walks out to freedom

I swore I wouldn’t post another thing about Paris but here I am.  I thought I’d at least post to get her out of the slammer so here goes.

The time was 12:15  as Paris walked out to freedom.  She walked out seemingly shy but with a ever so slightly cat walk style and smiling that ever popular smile.  She did the slight waving to the crowd even quickly high-fived some bystanders hands just before getting in the car.  She obviously was enjoying the press and in her own way, at least in my eyes, playing the press.

The Paris that walked out seemed to be the same Paris that walked in.  Here I was disappointed after hearing all about how she had changed, how she had found God in jail I was sure she would be walking out with bible in hand and held close to her heart.  Alas, maybe too soon.

Mamma and Pappa Hilton were waiting in a Black Escalade, chauffeured of course, and mamma was holding a bouquest of red and white roses.   Once Paris got in the car and they were able to drive away, they were followed and surrounded by papperazzi driving dangerously close flashing snap shots as fast as they could from all directions.  I honestly don’t see how the driver kept from being blinded from all the flashes.  As they would come to an intersection and have to stop, the papperazzi would jump out of the cars and surround their SUV.  They followed them until they finally ended up at the Hilton Mansion, that would be grandma and grandpa’s place where a big welcome home party was planned.

It escapes me as to why so much publicity surrounds someone who has contributed absolutely nothing to society except being born into wealth and being fairly attractive.  Her claim to fame is “party girl” and obviously doesn’t or didn’t have time to read petty things like citations thus leading her up to her 23 days in jail without her blackberry and a mirror.

I don’t blame her really or her sister, I blame her parents.  How could a parent be so ignorant as to let their daughter do absolutely nothing but party, party and party and be so proud of it.  Yet, between the public and the media Paris did nothing wrong but give them what they wanted.

I sincerely hope that Paris means what she says about having had time to think and has changed.  Only time will tell.  I’d love to see her utilize her position in helping others in some way, whatever way she feels she could contribute the most.  I think she has a lot to offer if she uses her talent and her status for the right purpose.

To Paris, I wish her nothing but the best and hope she can make good choices from here on out and to her parents, I hope they realize their parenting skills needs fine tuning.

And so ends my posts on Paris…….

Paris Hilton checks into Los Angeles County jail

The word is that this poor little rich girl will profit from her stint in jail as she plans to keep a daily journal for publication. I’m so glad,  just what she needs is more money to cover her partying expenses!  Hmm, wonder what the title will be….maybe “How I survived 23 days without my Blackberry.”

I can hardly imagine that a 23 day stay would make up enough for nothing more than a 3 page booklet at the most as each day being the same as the next except the meals might vary a bit and her hour out of her cell might be spent on the phone one day and watching TV the next.

But you can bet your money there will be plenty of people lined up to buy what ever it is that she writes I will say it might be interesting to see if she can write as well as she can read since her publicist reads for her but then I’m sure she would have someone edit her writing for her so it really wouldn’t be her writing at all.

LYNWOOD, California (AP) — Hours after strolling the red carpet in a strapless black dress, Paris Hilton traded her designer duds for a jail-issued jumpsuit.

The 26-year-old heiress checked into the Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood just after 11:30 p.m. Sunday. She’s expected to serve three weeks for violating her probation in an alcohol-related reckless driving case.

Hilton surrendered to sheriff’s deputies after making a surprise visit to the MTV Movie Awards in the afternoon.

“I am trying to be strong right now,” she told reporters on the red carpet. “I’m ready to face my sentence. Even though this is a really hard time, I have my family, my friends and my fans to support me, and that’s really helpful.”

Sheriff’s spokesman Steve Whitmore said Hilton was easy to work with.

“Her demeanor was helpful. She was focused, she was cooperative,” he said.

Hilton turned herself in at the Men’s Central Jail in downtown Los Angeles just after 10:30 p.m., then was escorted to the all women’s facility in Lynwood, where she was booked, fingerprinted and issued a jail uniform, Whitmore said.

She also was given her first meal: cereal, bread and juice.

So far, Hilton does not have a cellmate, Whitmore said.

The “Simple Life” star will be housed in the “special needs” unit of the 13-year-old jail, separate from most of its 2,200 inmates. The unit contains 12 two-person cells reserved for police officers, public officials, celebrities and other high-profile inmates.

Like other inmates in that unit, Hilton will take her meals in her cell and will be allowed outside the 12-foot-by-8-foot space for at least an hour each day to shower, watch TV in the day room, participate in outdoor recreation or talk on the telephone. No cell phones or BlackBerrys are permitted in the facility, even for visitors.

The jail, a two-story concrete building next to train tracks and beneath a bustling freeway, has been an all-female facility since March 2006. It’s located in an industrial area about five miles southeast of downtown Los Angeles.

“I did have a choice to go to a pay jail,” Hilton said Sunday, without giving details. “But I declined because I feel like the media portrays me in a way that I’m not and that’s why I wanted to go to county, to show that I can do it and I’m going to be treated like everyone else. I’m going to do the time, I’m going to do it the right way.” *(I’m so impressed that she has made quite a sacrifice)*

When she was sentenced May 4, Superior Court Judge Michael T. Sauer ruled that she would not be allowed any work release, furloughs or use of an alternative jail or electronic monitoring in lieu of jail.

Sometimes stars are allowed to do their time in a jail of their choosing. In such cases they pay a daily room-and-board fee to the smaller jails, which afford them more privacy and comfort.

Cop-slapping actress Zsa Zsa Gabor, for example, served three days behind bars in 1990 at the El Segundo jail near the Los Angeles International Airport. She paid $85 a day.

On Saturday, about 15 photographers, reporters and television crews staked out the entrances to the jail waiting for the celebutante’s arrival. Authorities had also cordoned off a grassy area outside the facility for the media. She had until Tuesday to report.

On Sunday, about a dozen photographers and television crews were at the Lynwood facility when she arrived in an unmarked SUV. Video captured by celebrity news site showed Hilton inside the vehicle with her mother, Kathy.

Hilton’s publicist, Elliot Mintz, said he spoke with Kathy Hilton after she returned from the jail.

“She told me it was very emotional,” Mintz said. “She also said that she feels this will be a time when Paris will be able to think and reflect and to spend time alone to learn from the experience because in Paris’ life she’s never alone — there’s always a constant chatter around her.”

Officers arrested Hilton in Hollywood on September 7. In January, she pleaded no contest to the reckless-driving charge and was sentenced to 36 months’ probation, alcohol education and $1,500 in fines.

She was pulled over by California Highway Patrol on January 15. Officers informed Hilton she was driving on a suspended license and she signed a document acknowledging she was not to drive. She then was pulled over by sheriff’s deputies on February 27, at which time she was charged with violating her probation.

Paris the Patriot

Posted May 29th 2007 11:41AM by TMZ Staff

Everyone appreciates a good barbecue — even more when it’s Paris Hilton heatin’ up the hotdogs!

The sullied socialite had her closest friends over to her pad for a Memorial Day BBQ yesterday, with guests ranging from “Simple Life” co-star and on-again BFF Nicole Richie, to MTV VJ turned D-Lister Simon Rex.

Paris was quiet around cameras when she appeared at her front door for an American flag-hanging photo op, though Rex told photogs the jail-bound blonde is “doing good.”

Other guests included Paris’ sis Nicky, Brandon “Greasy Bear” Davis, Keisha Cole, director Brett Ratner and Elisha Cuthbert.

Paris Gets “Happy Feet”

What does a convicted socialite do to cheer herself up when she’s got only a dozen days to go before she’s wearing fashionable prison stripes? She rents “Happy Feet.”

Paris, dressed in prison jeans and a butch polo shirt, grabbed her Louis Vuitton satchel and sauntered into a Blockbuster in WeHo, perused the comedy aisles, and settled on the penguin toon and “Charlotte’s Web” to give her some pre-jail jollies.

Miss Hilton also bought an ice cream cone, wisely substituting licking for liquor as she walked back to her infamous car. The heiress is scheduled to go directly to jail on June 5.

Paris Runs For Cover in Prison

While we’re told the blankees are a hit with children of celebs like Tori Spelling and Gwen Stefani, Paris will be the first incarcerated A-lister (?) to cuddle with the $66 security blanket. That’s hot!

Holy S**t! Paris Turns to Religion?!

Hallelujah brothers and sisters! Paris Hilton has cometh over to the light! Can you feel Jesus knockin’?! Let him in!!!

With her jail term only two weeks away, Ms. Hilton is pulling out the big guns to prepare for her stint in the pokey, carrying the Bible and “The Power of Now: A Guide to Spiritual Enlightenment” as she left her home yesterday.

Say goodbye to the sinner — and hello to the winner!

What Paris can expect behind bars

Paris Hilton better like chicken

The hotel heiress was sentenced Friday to 45 days at the Century Regional Detention Center, Los Angeles County’s jailhouse for women just south of downtown in Lynwood.

Inmates get three low-sodium meals a day, with dinner the only hot meal. Beef and pork aren’t permitted _ “it’s all poultry-based,” said Capt. Alice Scott, who oversees the 2,200-inmate facility she describes as “a very nice place.”

Like other high-profile Los Angeles County inmates _ O.J. Simpson, Robert Blake, Robert Mitchum, Sirhan Sirhan and Charles Manson _ Hilton will be segregated from the general population for her own safety, living in a one- or two-person cell.

Her cell will be Spartan: 12-by-8 feet with a toilet, sink and a window 6 inches wide. She’ll comb her blonde locks in a mirror made of polished metal.

Breakfast is served between 6 a.m. and 7:30 a.m., hours when Hilton sometimes gets in after a night of partying.

Inmates in segregation are allowed outside their cells for at least an hour each day to shower, watch television in the day room, participate in outdoor recreation or talk on the telephone, Scott said. There are a bank of phones that use prepaid phone cards _ cellular telephones and Blackberries aren’t allowed.

There have been other celebrities at the women’s jail. Actress Daryl Hannah, arrested last year for failing to leave a 14-acre inner-city garden where farmers were being evicted, spent a few hours there.

A year ago, former “Lost” actress Michelle Rodriguez showed up to serve a 60-day jail sentence for violating probation terms after her drunken driving arrest in Hawaii. She was released in hours because of overcrowding.

Sometimes stars are allowed to do their time in a jail of their choosing. In such cases celebrities pay a daily room-and-board fee to the smaller jails, which afford them more privacy and comfort.

Sean Penn found a jail in Bridgeport, a remote town on the eastern flank of the Sierra, to serve a 60-day sentence in 1987 for fighting with a photographer in violation of his probation for a barroom brawl.

Cop-slapping actress Zsa Zsa Gabor served three days behind bars in 1990 at the El Segundo jail near the Los Angeles International Airport. She paid $85 a day.

But the judge in Hilton’s case wouldn’t allow such an arrangement, so she’ll head to Lynwood on June 5.

-Hilton’s Jail Term Cut to About 23 Days

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Paris Hilton will serve about half of her 45-day jail sentence and will be separated from the general inmate population, authorities said Wednesday.

The hotel heiress will spend about 23 days in a ”special needs housing unit” at the Century Regional Detention Center in suburban Lynwood, Los Angeles County sheriff’s spokesman Steve Whitmore said.

Her sentence was shortened after jail officials gave her credit for good behavior, Whitmore said. Officials considered several factors in calculating the credit, including that she appeared for her latest court date, he said. (*well how about that, I thought good behavior was awarded once one was in jail not before but then we all are Hiltons are we?)

-People Can Learn From Paris, Mom Says

NEW YORK (AP) — Kathy Hilton hopes young people will learn from her 26-year-old socialite daughter, Paris, who is facing 45 days in jail for violating her probation.

”We can only hope that something positive will come from all of this. Hopefully, young people who look up to people like Paris will learn from this,” Hilton said in a statement read Wednesday on ABC’s ”The View” by co-host Barbara Walters.

Kathy Hilton called her Tuesday night and offered the statement, Walters said.

”She didn’t say `my child didn’t do it’ or `this is terrible,”’ said Walters, who has an adult daughter. ”She’s saying, `You have to take responsibility.’ I thought it was a very strong and very good statement.”

Co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck, who is pregnant with her second child, disagreed.

”You want to discipline your children before the criminal system does,” she said.

Ok now i’ve really got to laugh. Kathy Hilton is wanting people to look up to Paris, cough, cough. I’m sure every mother out there is hoping and wishing their daughter will be just like Paris, a spoiled brat, or shall I say a spoiled rich bitchy brat and her mother is not much better. If I remember right, the day in court when Paris was sentenced her mother cried it was unfair justice and now she is recanting and trying to look like the good mother who is saying everyone should look up to her daughter. Give me a break or am I the only one who thinks this.

Paris Hilton ‘Distraught’ Over Jail Time

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Paris Hilton is ”emotionally distraught and traumatized” over her 45-day jail sentence and isn’t capable of testifying in a civil lawsuit against her, the socialite-reality TV star’s psychiatrist said.

Dr. Charles Sophy has been seeing Hilton, 26, for the past eight months and has talked with her several times since her May 4 hearing for violating the terms of her probation in an alcohol-related reckless driving case, according to court papers.

Sophy said Hilton needs time to recover from the shock of receiving jail time before testifying in a civil case brought against her by actress and diamond heiress Zeta Graff.

Messages left with Hilton’s spokesman and lawyer weren’t immediately returned early Tuesday.

In court papers filed Monday, Sophy said Hilton is ”distraught and traumatized as a consequence of the findings at the May 4 hearing … and her fear of incarceration.”

”At this point in time,” he continued, ”Ms. Hilton cannot effectively respond to examination as a witness or provide any significant input into her defense.”

Graff filed a $10 million lawsuit against Hilton in 2005, claiming the reality TV star spread ”vicious lies” about her. Hilton has denied that she was behind a report alleging Graff once tried to grab a necklace worth $4 million from her throat.

Superior Court Judge Linda K. Lefkowitz postponed the trial to August. It had been scheduled to begin this month.

Hilton and her pal Nicole Richie star on ”The Simple Life,” which throws them into everyday situations. After famously feuding and filming their parts separately last season, the celebutantes have reunited as camp counselors for the show’s upcoming installment on the Comcast Corp.-operated E! network.

Paris cont’d……

America’s toughest sheriff” has been turned down

Due to the over crowding of the California jail, Sheriff Joe Arpaio of Maricopa county Texas offered to avail his jail facility to Paris but strangely enough his offer was turned down.

For those who are not familiar with this sheriff and his facility in Maricopa County Texas he is known for his infamous “tent city” otherwise known as the outdoor jail where the wrongdoers spend their time. They are all also required to wear pink underwear and sock, use pink towels and sheets and a good old bologna sandwich in on the lunch menu every day. Arpaio felt that even though Paris likes pink that since the temp in the daytime can reach in the triple digits he said “that might leave Paris feeling just a bit punky”.

His offer was made due to the overcrowding of the jails and felt that if she were at his facility she would be able to server out the full 45 days rather than only having to spend 2 weeks or less.

Celebrity News…….

Since there hasn’t been too much news of late on the celebrities I thought I’d post an update as I would hate to have anyone lose any sleep due to not knowing what has been going on, so here’s the scoop as best as I can remember. If anyone has anything to add that I’ve missed, please feel free to do so.

So here it is folks, coming from station WFLAG2 your Celebrity News!!

BULLETIN just in!  🙂

PARIS HILTON: Now here is a kicker – I know the media has not provided a lot of coverage about her so I did want to bring you the latest……… Our resident celebrity rich bitch who apparently can’t read, has been sentenced to 45 days in jail for violating probation HOWEVER, due to the overcrowding of jails she may not have to spend the full 45 days. This of course will be the smallest hotel room she has ever stayed in and there won’t be a mint on her pillow.

She won’t be allowed to have her cell phone (what, no cell phone, I can see withdrawals) Apparently a group has gotten together to ask the governor to pardon her but ARNOLD said he had far more important things to look after. Oh dear, I’m sure mom and pop Hilton won’t vote for him again.

BRITNEY SPEARS: Has been seen flirting with the paparazzi, doing the club scene, and has performed at the House of Blues. If she is trying to make a fashion statement she is doing a real number there……NOT

ANNA NICOLE SMITH: I swear I thought she died but they keep showing more tapes they have uncovered of her. Those tapes can only be seen on Entertainment Tonight, but wait, Access Hollywood says the same thing. I think I’ve seen more tapes of her since she died than when she was alive and now that they are making a movie of her life I can’t wait. lol

The media knows how to milk a story for sure. If they would only spend half that time telling a story about any of our troops and their personal stories. Many are over there not just for the 2nd time but for the 3rd and 4th time.

DANCING WITH THE STARS: I think that is nothing but a popularity contest. I know they work hard and put a lot into it but it all comes down to who all has the most fans. Right now it is down to Ian Zierling, Laila Ali, Apolo Ono and Joey Fatone. This one is hard to pick but I’m going with Laila Ali

AMERICAN IDOL: It’s coming down to the wire now and I think it will be very close call. We have Blake, Melinda and Jordin going for the title and I have to say I’m pulling for Jordin. I just don’t think Blake has it as he can’t seem to get away from his “beat box” if he could show more of a variety he might have had a chance, but then there are a lot of young gals out there so who knows. As for Melinda, she already is a professional singer and I personally feel that the purpose of American Idol should be to discover an amateur and give them a chance at making it big. Being a professional has an edge and to me I don’t feel that is fair.

Well that’s it from station WFLAG2 and Celebrity News for now, it’s late I’m tired and heading off to bed. Should have gone 4 hours ago…….lol I just felt everyone should have the latest update on Paris due to the lack of media coverage but got carried away and added a couple more.

Hilton: ‘Ready to Face the Consequences’

Published: May 9, 2007
Filed at 10:37 p.m. ET

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Five days after she was sentenced to jail, Paris Hilton says she understands the seriousness of driving under the influence and that she is not ”above the law.”

”I am ready to face the consequences of violating probation,” Hilton said in a statement released Wednesday by her new attorney, DUI specialist Richard Hutton. ”I do not expect to be treated better than anyone else who violated probation. However, my hope is that I will not be treated worse.”

The 26-year-old socialite was represented by attorney Howard Weitzman during her probation-violation hearing Friday. A receptionist at Hutton’s Pasadena office declined to say when Hilton retained his services.

Hutton did not return repeated calls for comment.

Hilton said she released the statement because ”I feel the need to correct what I believe are misperceptions about me.” (*Oh my gosh, and why would she think that*)

”I absolutely realize how serious driving under the influence is,” she said. ”I could not live with myself if anyone was injured or killed while I was driving while impaired. Clearly, no one should — no matter how slightly.”

The notorious party girl, who parlayed her pampered lifestyle into a reality TV show and a pop CD, was sentenced to 45 days in county jail for violating the terms of her probation in an alcohol-related reckless driving case. A judge ordered her to report to the women’s jail in suburban Lynwood by June 5, adding that she will not be allowed any work release, furloughs, use of an alternative jail or electronic monitoring instead of time behind bars. (*Maybe she’ll spend that time learning how to read, especially citations so she won’t have to depend on someone else. I think at 26, that is a good age to know how to read even if you aren’t rich.*)

Hilton’s original legal team, headed by Weitzman, filed a notice with the court on Friday indicating their intent to appeal the decision.

Paris Hilton Sentenced to 45 Days in Jail (do you think she will choose to upgrade her jail cell?)

For some reason “celebrities” think they are above the law and it doesn’t apply to them and when they are sentenced they cry they are being picked on because of who they are.  Oh, that’s right, a set of laws for us peasants and one for celebs, how ignorant could I be?

I’m at the age that I remember the “Kennedy – Chappaquiddick” incident” which proved back then and continues to this day, it is who you are and who you know as to how the law looks at you.

Published: May 5, 2007
Filed at 1:50 p.m. ET

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) – A judge sentenced a shocked and tearful Paris Hilton to 45 days in jail on Friday, ruling that the hotel heiress violated her probation for a previous traffic offense by knowingly driving without a valid license.

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Michael Sauer rejected Hilton’s defense that she didn’t realize her license was suspended and ordered the 26-year-old socialite to report to a county detention facility on June 5.

Hilton wept and her mother, Kathy, yelled at the prosecutor, “You’re pathetic,” as the packed courtroom cleared. (*Oh my, such harsh words from a rich bitch*)

The stunning decision capped a two-hour hearing in which prosecutors argued that Hilton was thumbing her nose at the court and seeking to be placed above the law, while defense lawyers said she was being singled out for harsh treatment because of her celebrity.

Taking the witness stand in her own defense, the star of the reality TV show “The Simple Life” testified that she was unaware her driving privileges had been completely suspended at the time police stopped her and impounded her car on February 27.

Hilton said her publicist, Elliot Mintz, had told her she was permitted to drive for work-related reasons after the first 30 days of her license suspension late last November, and that she relied on what he had said. (*that’s right, she can’t use her own head*)

But the judge said he did not believe Hilton, pointing to a notice she had received from a police officer, and had signed, during another traffic stop in January.

He said Hilton had “completely ignored” that notice, which she had carried in her glove box for weeks, and another license suspension notice sent to her office address by the Department of Motor Vehicles that Hilton said she never saw.

“In my opinion, there’s not doubt that she knew that her license had been suspended,” the judge said. “She doesn’t look at her mail, her personal assistant never goes through it either. … I think she just wanted to disregard everything that was said and continued to drive no matter what.”

In a final statement before she was sentenced, Hilton, dressed in a gray waist jacket, white blouse and black pants, her blond hair tied back in a pony tail, stood before the judge and denied that she had sought to flout the law.

“I did what I was told. I would never drive just because I want to. I follow the law and I respect the law. From now on I want to pay complete attention to everything,” (*Well good for her, at age 26 she should be able to pay attention to something besides herself*) she said. “I just want to say I’m sorry.”

But the judge was unmoved. (*Good for him*)

“Probation is revoked — 45 days in jail,” he declared.

Hilton’s lawyer, Howard Weitzman, said he would appeal “to modify the sentence.”

“It is clear that she has been selectively targeted for prosecution for who she is,” he said outside the courthouse.

Hilton was sentenced in January to three years on probation and ordered into an alcohol-education program for pleading no contest — the equivalent of a guilty plea — to alcohol-related reckless driving after a September 2006 arrest.

In February, she was pulled over again for driving without headlights. Police impounded her car, a $190,000 blue Bentley, when they discovered she was driving on a suspended license.

Hilton recently finished taping episodes for a fifth season of “The Simple Life,” which returns to the airwaves later this month.

I do think you have to blame her parents for the way they have allowed her to conduct herself.  As much as I hate “The Donald” he and his wife, or maybe it was his wife, did raise their kids to become diginified citizens.  A far cry from the Hiltons.
