BAY SHORE,N.Y – This past April I posted an article about a pit bull terrier named Duke who had spent 3 years on death row where he was confined to a Long Island animal shelter. At the time of my post Duke was waiting the decision of what was his last appeal as to whether he would be put down or allowed to to go home as a free dog.
The whole case started because Duke had bitten a neighbor’s dog and the neighbor filed a complaint. The neighbor hadn’t asked that Duke be put down only that he be constraint to his house but it was the judge in the case who ordered Duke to be euthanized.
Anyway, I have been trying to find out what finally happened and after doing a bit of searching I was able to get in touch with Duke’s owner and she responded with
I had written her and told her that I had posted the article on my blog and that several people had been quite interested to learn of his fate and have since written her and thanked her and told her I would post her response. From the sounds of it all I’m sure she had quite a few responses to write to but I did write her and thanked her for taking the time to respond and let me know so I could post the wonderful outcome.
